Written by prominent military historian Richard Gabriel, this biography has much to offer.

Hannibal’s words.. : Jun 6, 2012

In 216 BC while Hannibal’s vastly outnumbered army stood facing the Roman legions Officer Gisgo voiced concern

‘It is astonishing to see so great a number of men.’

Hannibal sensed his anxiety and decided to turn it his own way: ‘Yes, Gisgo, you are right, but there is one thing you have not noticed.’

‘What is that, sir?’ asked the puzzled officer.

‘In all that great number of men opposite us there is not a single one named Gisgo.’

The Borgias : Jun 6, 2012

I’ve been watching Season 1 and this series is great. It gave me a newfound interest in early modern Italian history, otherwise known as the period of the Renaissance …

Next posts will be dealing with personalities of that age, which in the case of the Borgias, include Pope Alexander VI himself and his children, especially, Lucrezia.
